New Wave Quilts looks complicated, but it's deceptively simple! It's also a great pattern for showing off those favorite prints that you just can't bear to cut into tiny pieces. The original New Wave Quilts pattern was so popular that I wrote this expanded version with additional sizes. Please refer to the listing images for sizes and fabric requirements. SIMPLE IRON COZY pdf sewing pattern - $7.50

$

0
Use this handy iron cozy to transport your iron to and from sewing events. The elasticized cozy is easily slipped on and off most standard-sized household irons, while the strap helps to hold the iron’s cord in place. A quilted heat-resistant bottom and sides lined with heat-resistant fabric help make a recently-used iron easier to move. The pdf pattern includes one pattern piece, which is made by printing 2 pages and taping them together. All other pieces are rotary cut. Please refer to the listing images for a materials list. Yardage is listed on the chart, but scraps may also be used (a chart with sizes is provided in the pattern). Ironing board fabric and thermal fleece are typically found in the utility fabrics section of a fabric store. In addition to the materials on the list and your standard sewing supplies, you will need a water-soluble fabric marker, small safety pins, basic machine quilting supplies, tape, and a printout of the pattern piece on Pages 8 and 9 of the pdf. Important Notes This pattern describes how to make an iron cozy lined with heat-resistant materials. However, the user is still advised to exercise caution when handling and transporting a hot iron. The pattern was designed to fit most standard irons used by home sewers. I tested the cozy on a wide variety of irons, but I cannot guarantee that it will fit every iron. Irons with retractable cords will probably not fit in this iron cozy. The cozy will fit more loosely on smaller irons. The pdf pattern will be automatically delivered via e-mail as soon as your payment is received. The e-mail you receive will include a link to download the file directly to your computer. Please note that the link will allow you to access the file a limited number of times, so please do not access the pattern repeatedly (for instance on your phone) without first downloading and saving it on your own computer. This scrap-busting quilt is made with 1,600 fabric squares and 25 unique blocks. Use scraps in 12 colors to create the subway "lines" and "stops" on this stylized transit map. Each of the four size variations follows the same layout using a different size of fabric squares. All sizes include instructions for a pieced back. There are two different ways to use colorful fabric scraps in this quilt: SUPER SCRAPPY VERSION This version is ideal for quilters with a large stash of scraps who want to use many different fabrics and have some flexibility in laying them out. The diagrams for the Super Scrappy Version show the path of each subway line, but the individual fabric squares within each line can be arranged according to the quilter's preference.FIVE FABRIC VERSION This version uses larger scraps of 5 different fabrics for each color group and is ideal for quilters who want to use larger pieces of fewer different fabrics. The block assembly diagrams for the Five Fabric Version include specific placement instructions for each fabric. Please refer to the listing images for quilt sizes and yardages. *** The pdf pattern will be automatically delivered via e-mail as soon as your payment is received. PERFECT QUILTED TOTES pdf sewing pattern - $10.00

Making these totes is the perfect way to put your scraps to work to create beautiful, structured bags! Combine a simple quilt-as-you-go technique with utility fabric to make bags that can stand on their own without the use of heavy interfacing. The 25-page, full-color pattern comes with instructions for making two tote styles. The Tall Tote measures 14½” tall x 10½” wide x 4” deep, and has 29" shoulder bag-style handles. The Wide Tote measures 11½” tall x 12½” wide x 6” deep and has 16" handbag-style handles. Details like facing inside the top of the bag and a “stay-put” lining with easy-to-sew zip and slip pockets make the finished bags both polished and useful. Instructions for installing an optional magnetic snap closure are also included. All of the pieces you will use to complete this project are rectangular, and the instructions are written for cutting using a rotary cutter, acrylic ruler, and self-healing cutting mat. Please refer to the pattern images for yardage requirements. The basic materials you will need are: Patchwork fabric scraps Scraps of print and/or solid quilting fabric including mid-weight cotton, cotton/linen, and home-décor weight cottons. Textured solid fabric Mid-weight fabrics including yarn-dyed cottons, cotton/linen blends such as Robert Kaufman’s Essex, chambray, and denim. Lightweight Fusible Interfacing A lightweight fusible interfacing will add structure to the handles and facing. Using interfacing is recommended for sturdier handles and facing, but it’s not essential.Cotton duck or other utility fabric Cotton duck, drill cloth, cotton canvas, or something similar in a light neutral color. Batting Low-loft needled cotton batting such as Warm and White or Warm and Natural. Iron-friendly fusible fleece may be substituted. Lining fabric Mid-weight quilting solid fabric, such as Robert Kaufman’s Kona. Use a coordinating mid-weight quilting print for the pocket lining. *** The pdf pattern will be automatically delivered via e-mail as soon as your payment is received. SOLAR ECLIPSE pdf quilt pattern - $10.00

Includes Baby, Lap, and Queen Sizes Solar Eclipse is a modern take on the classic Delectable Mountains quilt block. This pattern includes instructions for 4 different block variations, each of which is enhanced by arranging the fabrics by value, from light to dark. The entire quilt is made with 2½” strips of fabric. You can cut these from yardage or use precut strips (e.g. jelly rolls or roll-ups). Each set of block instructions includes a list of the pieces needed to make that block, so you can also make the blocks from scraps. Quilt sizes and fabric requirements are included on the materials chart in the listing images. You will also need the fabric marking tool of your choice and, optionally, 22 sandwich bags for organizing the cut fabric and a 2½" scrap of template plastic for making a guide to mark the diagonal seams.SELECTING FABRIC Each of the four block designs in Solar Eclipse (A, B, C, and D) is made using a different group of four coordinating fabrics. I used Robert Kaufman’s Kona Cotton Solids, as shown in the materials chart. You can use the same fabrics, something similar, or something totally different. The main thing is to pay attention to the value (lightness or darkness) of each fabric. The quilt will be most effective when each group includes a range of values, with Fabric 1 being the lightest and Fabric 4 being the darkest. The background fabric should be a neutral solid like white that contrasts with the colorful fabrics.USING PRECUT STRIPS Precut 2½” strips (e.g. jelly rolls or roll-ups) can be substituted for the colorful fabrics as follows: Baby Quilt = 16 strips Lap Quilt = 40 strips Queen Quilt = 95 stripsNote: The Lap Quilt can be made using one 40-piece roll each of colorful and white fabric.USING SCRAPS The individual block instructions include lists of the cut pieces needed to make single blocks. You will need a variety of 2½” wide fabric scraps ranging in length from 2½” to 16½”.ABOUT THE PDF PATTERN The pdf pattern will be automatically delivered via e-mail as soon as your payment is received. PREPPY THE WHALE pdf quilt pattern - $10.00

$

Includes Mini, Child, and Picnic SizesChild and Picnic sizes are equivalent to small and large lap quilts. Preppy is a fresh and happy patchwork whale who’s ready to be a part of your next quilt! These 4" x 13" whales are made using conventional patchwork techniques - no paper piecing or templates. Because each whale only needs a 9” x 10” piece of fabric, Preppy can be made using fat quarters, fat sixteenths, 10” precut squares, or even scraps. Mix and match to make a fun and fabulous quilt. The pattern includes a summary of the pieces needed to make single blocks, so Preppy will be right at home in other quilts or smaller patchwork projects. Quilt sizes and fabric requirements are included on the materials chart in the listing images. You will also need the fabric marking tool of your choice. SELECTING FABRIC Each quilt size includes one black whale, one white whale, and two or more colorful whales. The black fabric is used to make the eyes and mouths on all of the whales except the black whale. White fabric is used to make the eye and mouth on the black whale. The “black” and “white” fabrics don’t have to be true white or black. A light gray, or even a very pale pink can be used instead of white and a dark charcoal or indigo can be used instead of black. The key is for one to be light and one to be dark. Choosing a medium gray, denim, or linen tone for the background will help to keep things balanced. Because each one is made up of several smaller pieces, the whales will look best made with solids or prints that are smaller, monochromatic, and/or non-directional. Pointy includes instructions for making 4½" x 30½" patchwork arrows in a small or large quilt. The arrows are pieced using conventional patchwork techniques, with no paper piecing or templates. Instructions for making individual blocks are also included. Please refer to quilt sizes and materials requirements in the listing images. Pointy is a flexible pattern that can be made with precut fabrics, fat eighths, or scraps. You will also need the fabric marking tool of your choice. SELECTING FABRIC The patchwork arrows in Pointy are made in sets of 5, with each set using 5 squares 5” x 5” each and 5 strips 1-1/2” x WOF or 5 fat eighths. Use 1 set to make the small quilt and 5 sets to make the large quilt. You can color coordinate the fabrics, as I have, or go for an entirely scrappy look. The choice is yours! If you prefer a scrappier look and want to make the arrows individually you can refer to the instructions for single blocks. I’ve used a white solid fabric for the arrows and a neutral indigo for the background. Don’t hesitate to make different choices, just be sure the fabrics have enough contrast that the shape of the arrows is clear. HAZEL HEDGEHOG pdf quilt pattern - $10.00

Includes Baby, Lap, and Twin Sizes Hazel is a friendly patchwork hedgehog just waiting to be a part of your next quilt! This pattern uses conventional patchwork techniques (no paper piecing or templates) and can be made using precut 1½" strips, precut 10" squares, or an assortment of fabric scraps. The pattern includes a summary of the pieces needed to make single blocks, so Hazel will be right at home in other quilts or smaller patchwork projects. Quilt sizes and fabric requirements are included in the listing images. You will also need the fabric marking tool of your choice. Please note that all yardages are based on fabric at least 42" wide, except the backing fabric for the baby quilt, which should be at least 44" wide.SELECTING FABRIC There are two basic fabric options for piecing Hazel Hedgehog. (The Lap Quilt with Fabric Option 2 is shown in the photos.)Option 1 (shown in quilt size diagrams) Use the same fabric for all of the faces and bodies and a different colorful fabric for each hedgehog’s spines. This is a good idea if you want to feature print fabrics or a roll of precut 1½" strips. Use one print fabric or precut strip to make each hedgehog's spines. Use the same neutral solids for all of the the faces and bodies to highlight the assortment of fabrics used for the spines.Option 2: (shown in sample quilt) Use 3 coordinating fabric scraps: 8” x 8” light, 6” x 7” medium, and 10” x 10” dark for each block. This is a good idea if you have a variety of solid and monochromatic print scraps that you want to mix and match. Precut 10" x 10" squares also work well for this option. For both options, the eyes and noses should be made with the darkest of all your fabrics.
